Game   18

Slammers 11, Rangers 6

The Rangers met up with the Slammers in a make-up game at Rotary Park on Wednesday night, July 31. The game started out strong for the visiting Rangers, but the offense fizzled thereafter in an 11-6 loss.

In the top of the first inning, Nick Gilmore led off with a HBP. After stealing second and third, Rob Pederson drove him in. Later with 2 outs and 2 on, Kyle Moyer smacked a 2-run double. Two batters later, Chris Jones drove home Moyer with a double to give the Rangers a quick 4-0 advantage.

The Slammers answered with an RBI triple from Todd Barhorst and an RBI single from Rick Anderson to make it 4-2. The Rangers got one run back in the second as Gilmore singled, and after reaching third base, an errant pickoff attempt allowed him to score.

The Slammers took the lead for good in the third on an RBI double from Anderson and RBIs from Garrett Wissman and Adam Goodpaster to take a 6-5 lead. The Slammers would add 3 more in the next two innings to increase their lead to 9-5.

The Rangers got one more run in the sixth on an RBI single from Chris Ridl. But two more runs from the Slammers in the bottom of the inning put the game out of reach.

Offensive highlights: Nick Gilmore 1-for-3, 2 runs, 3 SB; Rob Pederson 2-for-4, RBI; Kyle Moyer 2-for-3, double, 2 RBIs; Chris Jones 1-for-2, double, RBI, SB.
