The Rangers scored 12 runs in the top of the first inning en route to an 18-1 run rule over the expansion Wild Boars on Sunday, August 9 at Belmont high school.

 

The Rangers sent 15 batters to the plate in the top of the first inning, jumping out to a 12-run cushion. The Rangers had 10 hits in the inning, including 2 each from Steve Marshall, Brennen Glass and Ben Schubert. Fresh off his HR Derby crowning, Schubert wrapped up the first-inning scoring with a 3-run home run, his 4th of the season.

 

The Rangers were held in check over the next two innings before scoring 5 more times in the fourth. Phil Dickerson and Jonmarc Lippincott had RBI singles in the inning and Kody Barth added an RBI double.

 

The Rangers added one more run in the fifth for their 18th run. The only run the Boars scored was on a solo home run from All-Star Eric Nelson.

 

Ryan Meinert moved to 3-1 with the win.
