Playoffs  Semifinals

Rangers 8,

Redlegs 6

The Rangers met up with the Redlegs in the league semifinals at Carlisle high school.

Game 1 featured the Rangers' Brandon Saylor and the Redlegs' Jesse Jones squaring off with one another on the mound in a tough pitcher's duel and 5 lead changes. The Redlegs scored first in the top of the second on an RBI single from Brad Malott. The Rangers answered with a 2-run single from Kyle Moyer to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead. A rare Rangers' outfield miscue allowed two Redlegs runners to score in the third to hand the lead right back.

The Rangers took advantage of a fielding miscue in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3.  At this point, the Rangers left 10 runners on base and needed to figure out how to finish out innings. Redlegs outfielder Saige Micomonaco drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth to shift the momentum back to Camden. The Rangers used speed to its advantage in the bottom of the inning as Cooper Nolte walked and Chris Ridl singled. As a pickoff attempt went awry at first base, both Nolte and Ridl were able to run around and score to tie the game once again.

Brandon Howard led off the 6th for the Redlegs with a walk. With one out, James Robinson came through with a clutch double down the right field line to give the Redlegs a one-run lead. The clutch gene carried over to the Rangers side in the bottom of the sixth as Markus Neff launched a 3-run home run to left field to give the Rangers an 8-6 lead. Hunter Kraynak relieved Saylor in the 7th, allowed a single and a walk, but got a ground out, and a fielders choice before striking out Joey Watson to end the game.

Game two paired up 2020 MVABL Hall of Fame pitchers Joe Becker and Kevin Campbell. Both hurlers tossed zeroes over the first two frames. The Rangers cracked through with an unearned run in the top of the third as Eric Becker scampered home after a pickoff attempt went awry.  However, the Rangers left the bases loaded again. Jonmarc Lippincott and Kyle Moyer had RBI singles in the fourth to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead. The Rangers made it 4-0 in the top of the 5th as Chris Ridl drove in a run. The Redlegs got an unearned run in the fifth as Jesse Jones reached on a throwing error and later scored on a groundout.

The Rangers put the game away as they batted around in both the 6th and 7th. They got 8 runs in the sixth, as Nick Gilmore had a 2-run single, Chris Jones had a bases-loaded walk, Lippincott had a 2-run single, and Eric Becker added an RBI single. Becker's RBI was the 5000th RBI in team history.

Joey Watson smacked a 2-run home run in the 6th to round out the scoring for the Redlegs. But the Rangers poured in 5 more runs in the 7th with RBI hits from Nolte, Ridl, Lippincott, and Eric Becker. The Rangers finished with a 17-3 win and advance to the championship series for the 8th time.
