Game  2

The Rangers reeled off its 11th straight regular season win with a 24-1 shellacking of the River Bandits on Sunday, April 23 at Gastineau Field. It was the second-most runs scored in the last decade -- second only to the 26 runs scored in a defeat of the Redlegs in 2019.

Kenny Owens and Joe Becker made easy work of the expansion team batters over 4 innings of work. Owens started and went 3 innings for the win, allowing 2 hits, and unearned run, striking out 8. Becker added a 1-2-3 inning of relief.

The offense rolled out the welcome mat in the first, taking advantage of leadoff walks to Eric Becker and Rob Pederson. Jesse Jones, in his first AB as a Ranger, singled home Becker.  Both Jones and Pederson would later score on wild pitches. Cooper Nolte added a sac fly in the inning to give the Rangers a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the second, Pederson stroked a 2-run double and was followed up by an RBI double from Jones to make it 7-0.

The River Bandits appeared to halt any scoring opportunities by the Rangers in the top of the third as the team had the bases loaded with two outs. But the floodgates opened up and 8 runs would score before the final out of the inning was made. Eric Becker had a 2-run single. Pederson had an RBI knock as well. Markus Neff stepped up and cleared the bases with a double, marking the franchise's 7000th regular season hit.

The lone Bandits tally came on a throwing error by the catcher attempting to throw a runner out at third base.

The fourth inning saw the Rangers bat around for the second straight inning. Outside of a handful of scoring due to errors, Jaret Quinn, Eric Becker, Pederson, Jones, and Nolte added RBI singles in the frame.
