Redlegs 12, Rangers 4
Eight ballplayers wasn't enough to take down the defending league champions in the latest edition of the Backyard Battle at Madison high school.
Joe Becker ran into early trouble against the Camden Redlegs as the Rangers fell behind 2-0 after an inning. Behind 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Brandon Marshall led off the inning with his league-leading second home run of the season. But Joey Watson's 2-run HR put the Redlegs up 5-1. In the bottom of the third, Jonmarc Lippincott and Robert Riley singled and Marshall's groundball through the legs of the third baseman allowed Lippincott to score. Mike Hartman's 3-run HR capped a four-run inning for the Redlegs in the 4th. The Redlegs expanded there lead to 11-2 with a pair of runs in the fifth. Marshall drove home Riley in the bottom of the 5th to make it 11-3. The Rangers final tally came off the bat of Marshall yet again in the 7th.
Riley tossed a pair of scoreless innings to wrap up the game.
