Games  5-6

The Rangers remained red-hot with a pair of victories over the Beavercreek Orioles at Howell Field. Game 1 saw a combined 4-hitter from Kenny Owens and Joe Becker in a 11-3 victory. Game 2 was twice as nice as Brandon Saylor no-hit the O's over 5 innings in a 13-1 win.

The first game of the DH started slow for both squads before the scoring started in the third inning. The Rangers started the top of the frame with the first three batters reaching on errors. Nick Gilmore plated the first of six runs in the inning with a fielder's choice. Markus Neff had a 2-run single. Another run came home when Brandon Ward stole third and scored on an error. A Jaret Quinn bases-loaded walk scored the fifth run. And Kyle Moyer rounded it out with a tally on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the inning, Owens struck out the first batter, but the next batter reached on an error. John Rosenmayer roped a run-scoring triple, and scored one batter later after another fielding miscue.

With a 6-2 advantage, the Rangers added to its lead in the top of the fifth as Brandon Ward doubled and scored on Neff's 2-run HR to left. Two more runs scored on a bases-loaded HBP to Eric Becker and a subsequent walk to Saylor.

Cooper Nolte added an RBI single in the 7th to make it 11-2. The Orioles added one run in the bottom of the seventh for the final 11-3 score. Kenny Owens earned his 2nd win and Joe Becker picked up the 3-inning save.

Brandon Saylor took the mound for game 2. He walked the first two batters of the game and induced a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. The O's got their only run of the game on a groundball that was misplayed at second base. After that, Saylor was dominant the rest of the way, not allowing a hit and striking out 9 over 5 innings.

Meanwhile, the Rangers put up a 7-spot in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Mike Seebock and an RBI double from Neff. Seebock added an RBI double of his own in the third as the Rangers increased the lead to 9-1. In the fifth, Neff had a bases-clearing double to elevate his RBI count to 8 on the day, and later scored to make it 13-1.
