The Rangers took nearly a month off from playing, thanks in part to a holiday weekend, an All-Star Game weekend, and a rainout weekend.

But the Rangers (9-6) got back in the win column with a 9-2 defeat of the Mad River Machine at Fairmont High School. The bats were nearly dormant for the first half of the game as the Rangers were fighting to give newcomer Daniel Corcino some run support. Corcino was dominant over 5 innings of work, not allowing a baserunner and striking out 10 batters.

The Rangers finally got to the Machine's rookie lefthander in the top of the 5th, batting around and scoring 7 times. Eric Becker and Chris Ridl started things off with singles. Mike Seebock followed suit with a single to left. Becker would score as the left fielder had trouble fielding the ball cleanly. Brandon Saylor then singled to load the bases. Nick Gilmore singled home Ridl to make it 2-0. Seebook scored on a wild pitch. Rob Pederson grounded out to plate Saylor to make it 4-0. Kyle Moyer would walk and steal second. Both Gilmore and Moyer would score on wild pitches for a 6-run cushion. Robert Riley and Jonmarc Lippincott singled, and Dominic Kuzujanakis had an RBI single to make it 7-0.​

In the top of the 7th, Corcino led off with a single off Machine reliever Andrew Madlinger, and Gilmore singled as well. Rob Pederson hit a sac fly and Moyer grounded out to score Gilmore to increase the lead to 9-0.

Kenny Owens relieved Corcino with a scoreless sixth. Owens ran into a little trouble in the bottom of the 7th as a couple walks and a couple hits produced two runs.

Ryan Qvick finished off the evening with 2 hitless innings, striking out 4.
