Games  13-14

A beautiful afternoon of baseball culminated in a pair of Rangers victories over the River Bandits at Oakwood high school. Former coach Jonmarc Lippincott came out of retirement to be on hand for a couple of historical moments in team history.

In the first game of the day, Joe Becker tossed 5 shutout innings en route to a 3-0 win. Becker allowed 2 hits and struck out 5. Cooper Nolte struck out 2 in an inning of relief, and Markus Neff picked up his first career save whilst striking out 2 in the 7th inning. Becker's outing was his 145th regular season game pitched, breaking the league record previously held by former Rangers teammate Shawn Schmitt.

The Rangers' bats were held in check as the only runs came on a bases-loaded walk to Nick Gilmore, an error, and a run-scoring single from Rob Pederson. Lippincott was able to get a hit down the left field line in his final AB in order to properly ride off into the sunset with a base knock.

A couple of crooked innings resulted in a 12-1 victory for the Rangers in game two. Coach Gilmore went to a bullpen game to give some non-pitchers an opportunity to toe the rubber. Gilmore started on the bump and allowed the only run of the afternoon to the Bandits, an RBI single from Jeremy Griest. Jesse Jones followed with 3 hitless innings of relief to earn the win. Rob Pederson struck out 1 in his inning, Noah Schleinitz struck out the side, and Kyle Moyer wrapped it up with a 1K final inning of relief.

Meanwhile, the offense decided to show up in game two. Eric Becker led off the game with a solo HR to left. The game remained tied at 1-1 until the Rangers tallied 5 runs in the 3rd. Jones led the frame off with a HBP, and scored after Cooper Nolte singled and an errant throw ensued. Gilmore followed up with a 2-run blast to left, his 4th career longball. Two more runs scored later in the inning on a groundball out and another error.

Six straight singles to kick off the 6th increased the Rangers lead to 10-1. Nolte drove in two more with a double that produced the final score of 12-1.

Joe Becker pitched in his 145th regular season game, breaking the league record (Schmitt 144).  Rob Pederson achieved his 100th league run scored. Markus Neff registered his first career save.
