Games  23-24

The Rangers played a split DH against the Southwest Ohio division-leading Wolves followed up with a cross-divisional matchup with the Mariners at Carlisle high school.

The Rangers awarded too many free passes in game 1 against the Wolves to be able to overcome a 7-4 final score.

Jesse Jones started for the Rangers and walked the bases loaded with 2 outs. He then walked Jackson Frasure to force in a run before striking out Jacob Brunner to limit the damage.

Jones helped his own cause in the bottom of the first. He doubled with one out and stole second and scored on an overthrow to tie the game at 1-1.

The Wolves proceeded to load the bases again to kick off the second. Todd Barhorst drove in two with a single to make it 3-1. Three batters later, Nick Wissman hit a sac fly to right, but the ball was dropped allowing a fourth run to score.  The Rangers cut the score in half as Kyle Moyer had an RBI single in the bottom of the second.

An RBI triple from Todd Barhorst in the third increased the Wolves lead to 5-2.

Eric Becker took over on the mound in the 4th and blanked the Wolves as the Rangers began to battle back in the bottom of the frame. Mark Carpenter started off with a double, and was at third after a groundout. Cooper Nolte was issued a walk and stole second, and in doing so, allowed Carp to steal home. Brandon Ward singled home Nolte to cut the lead to 5-4.

But the Wolves added insurance in the 5th on an RBI double from Todd Barhorst and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.

Markus Neff tossed 2 scoreless innings of relief, but the Rangers couldn't muster another rally and fell 7-4.

Game 2 welcomed the Springboro Mariners to town but Joe Becker was up to task to salvage a split of the weekend doubleheader. Becker unfurled his 3rd career shutout, blanking the M's 4-0 on a 3-hitter.

The Rangers got on the board first in the bottom of the second. After Nolte and Gilmore singled, putting runners on the corner, Nolte stole home as the Mariners pitcher attempted a pickoff at first base. The lead grew to 3-0 in the third after Rob Pederson singled home Eric Becker and Jesse Jones. A fielding error in the 6th inning gave the Rangers a 4-0 advantage.

In the 7th, the Mariners put runners on the corners with one out, but Becker strike out the final two batters to wrap up the shutout.
