Game  30

The Rangers (25-4-1) wrapped up the regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Xenia Scouts at Howell Field. The 25 regular season victories is the most in team history and second most in league history.

Jesse Jones started for the Rangers and had a season-high in innings pitched and strikeouts. Jones K'd 9 over 6 innings, allowed 3 hits and walked 5 to earn his second win of the year. Kenny Owens returned from a months-long knee issue to garner a hold, and Joe Becker finished up the afternoon with a one-out save.

Facing an undermanned Scouts squad, the Rangers had a tough time early on finding the holes with runners in scoring position. The first scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the second when Cooper Nolte led off with a triple. After a walk and stolen base from Brandon Ward, both runners would remain stranded after a popup and two strikeouts from Scouts starter Alex Schulke.

The Scouts loaded the bags in the top of the third and took advantage of a two-out, wild pitch to score the first run of the game. The Rangers countered with occupying all the bases in the bottom of the inning, but a strikeout thwarted a chance to put something on the board.

Joe Becker's two-out RBI double in the bottom of the fourth tied the game at 1-1. Jones added an RBI double as well to give the Rangers a 2-1 advantage.

MVABL triples leader Lou Ryan added to his total to start the fifth and scored on a fielder's choice to tie the game once again.

Nolte doubled to kick off the bottom of the 5th, and Mike Seebock doubled him home to give the Rangers back the lead. The Rangers added insurance in the 6th as Eric Becker walked and scored on Jones' second RBI double of the game.

Kenny Owens relieved Jones in the 7th and gave up a single to Josh Cvetkovich. A sac bunt put the runner in scoring position, but Owens struck out Chapman. Joe Becker then entered the contest to get a groundout to end the game.
